Pencil thumbnails until the shape of the book shows up.
Kevin writes the books and draws the worlds inside them — literary covers one week, children’s art the next.
He came to Tequp in 2009 with a folder of pencil roughs and no manuscript. Years later he still starts the same way: drawings first, words after, and a cover sketched long before the last chapter is written.
His non-fiction sits alongside the picture books without apology. Both are about explaining something difficult to someone who did not ask to be taught.

Pencil thumbnails until the shape of the book shows up.
Words written to the drawings, not the other way round.
Painted in full before the final chapter is signed off.
Proofs checked on paper, on press, in person.
“Anderson draws like someone who has read the book twice and still likes it.”
“The rare picture book that trusts a child to sit with something sad.”
Kevin is represented directly by the studio for all territories, plus illustration commissions.
